6 Forms of Energy
Chemical Energy
A battery is chemical energy because it stores the power inside until it is used.
This is an example because when you eat food, the energy is turned into heat for us, it helps us move, and it helps us grow.
Energy stored in the chemical bonds of substances.
Electrical Energy
This is an example of electrical energy because when you plug something into the outlet, it will charge whatever you need because of the electrical flow.
Energy stored in the charges found on particles in atoms
An electric eel uses electric energy to defend itself from enemies.
Thermal Energy
An oven is an example of thermal energy because it uses heat to cook the food.
A pot of water boiling is an example of thermal energy because the heat from the stove is using the metal to boil the water.
Molecular potential and kinetic energy of atoms.
Radiant Energy
Sound energy is an example because when you speak or make sound, the waves carry throughout the room.
A heater is an example of this because the waves spread the heat throughout the room and make it warmer.
Energy contained in waves that are part of the electromagnetic spectrum
Mechanical Energy
A roller coaster is an example of mechanical energy because you need the energy to keep it going up and down on the hills.
The total potential and kinetic energy of a system.
Riding a bike is an example of mechanical energy because it uses gears to make it go and you need to use mechanical energy to turn the pedals.
Nuclear energy
Nuclear Power Plants are an example because they use heat produced to heat water and create the energy.
Nuclear energy is used in food treatment by using radiation to prevent harmful diseases and insects.
Energy contained in the forces that hold the nucleus of an atom together
