Electricity and direct current circuits Fran Fernandez
ELECTRICITY
Is a form of energy that lets negatively charged particles (electrons) move from one atom to another.
ELECTRIC CURRENT
Is the flow of electrons from one atom to another inside a conductive material

Electric circuits
Conductors:transport the electrical energy
Load devices:receive the electrical energy
Power sources:Supply the necessary electrical energy
control devices:regulate the circuit
CONDUCTORS AND INSULATORS
.
Conductor:A material or device that conducts or transmits heat or electricity, especially when regarded in terms of its capacity to do this.
Insulators:A substance or device which does not readily conduct electricity.
Components of a circuit
Power sources
Battery
A grouped set of cells
Cell
Supplies electrical energy to the rest of the circuit
Load devices
Motor
Converts electrical energy to kinetic energy
Buzzer
Converts electrical energy to sound energy
Lamp
Converts electrical energy to light energy
Resistor
A load device that opposes the flow of the electric current
Control devices
Push switch
Open and close but only while the button is pushed
Two way switch
Have two positions
One way switch
Open or close the circuit when they are pressed
Conductors
Wire
The component that the electric current flows through
OPEN AND CLOSED CIRCUITS
Close
when the energy of the power source reaches the load devices, s the electric current flows
Open
When the energy of the power source cannot reach the load devices, so the electric current cannot flow
