Physical Geography
Location
It is in the Northern Hemisphere.
Russia is located in the Northern half of Asia, but it spreads into the east of Europe
There are 14 countries that share a border with Russia. They are: Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Norway, Poland, and Ukraine.
Some bodies of water that surround it are: Arctic Ocean and its seas, including the White Sea, Barents Sea, Kara Sea, Laptev Sea, East Siberian Sea, and the Chukchi Sea. Located almost entirely north of the Arctic Circle, much of the water here remains frozen for the better part of the year.

Tundra
The tundra is a treeless polar desert found in the high latitudes in the polar regions.
The region's long, dry winters feature months of total darkness and extremely frigid temperatures.
In the north of Russia, generally above the Arctic Circle. In European Russia, it occupies limited space on Kola Peninsula and in the Arkhangelsk and Komi regions along the coast. In Siberia, the most extensive tundra is found on Yamal, Taymyr, and Chukotka Peninsulas.

Marshes
The Vasyugan peatland or Vasyugan Swamp is the largest swamp in the northern hemisphere. It is located in Russia, in southwestern Siberia.
It occupies 53,000 km2, which is about 2% of the whole area of peat bogs of the world.
Steppes
These are treeless plains, that cover most of the Russian landscape.
The Russian steppes form part of the vast semi-arid grassland that stretches from Hungary to Mongolia. The Russian steppes extend as far south as the Black and Caspian Seas and the Caucasus mountains.

Notable rivers of Russia in Europe are Pechora, Volga, Don, Kama, Oka and the Northern Dvina, while several other rivers originate in Russia but flow into other countries
Russia has about 100,000 rivers, including some of the longest and most powerful in the world. It also has many lakes, including Europe's two largest: Ladoga and Onega. Lake Baikal in Siberia contains more water than any other lake on Earth.

Russia's drainage system is one of the largest in the world with a substantial number of water bodies such as rivers and lakes situated within the country's borders.
Mountains
Part of the Caucasus Mountains, it is the highest above-ground peak in Europe. Mount El'brus is located in southwest Russia and is part of the Caucasus Mountains. It is the highest point in Russia as well as the highest point in all of Europe.
The Ural Mountains are found in the western parts of Russia.
There is also the Greater Caucasus in the north and the Lesser Caucasus in the south. These mountain ranges are found just north and south of one another, in the southern part of Russia.
There are about 20 mountain ranges in Russia. According to some sources, there are about 1,000 mountain peaks on its vast territory.
Other
There are many different types of landmarks, within Russia. These can include volcanoes, caves, rock structures and many different national parks. Each of these attraction contain their own special features that make then unusually unique.
Climate
In general, the climate of Russia can be described as highly continental influenced climate with warm to hot dry summers and (very) cold winters with temperatures of -30°C and lower and sometimes heavy snowfall.

For such a large country, Russia has a relatively small population because most of its northern part is uninhabitable. This is because these places are too cold, to support human life.

The Trans-Siberian Railway is the most popular form of transport in Russia. It runs from Moscow 5,778 miles (9,198 km) east to Vladivostok or (beyond Vladivostok) 5,867 miles (9,441 km) to the port station of Nakhodka.
