pathophysiology
Cancer starts when cells begin to grow uncontrollably and form tumors. In the case of lung cancer, the tumors start in the lungs. Sometimes cancer starts somewhere else in the body and then spreads to the lungs. In that case, it's called metastatic cancer to the lung.

nursing careplan
- observe vital signs closely especially respiration. Observe for the use of accessory muscle when breathing.
- ascultate lung for air movement and abnormal breath sounds
- maintain patency of chest drainage system for lobectomy.
- administer oxygen therapy as indicated
- observe the sputum characteristics
- encourage fluid intake to flush down the secretion and ease coughing
- position the patient in a comfortable position that will not cause him or her to feel pain
- evaluate patient level of understanding of the diagnosis to make sure the patient understand better the condition
- clear sound breathes and noiseless respiration
- patient to report pain being relieved
- patient to be able to perform daily activities
- patient to be able to acknowledge and discuss fears
- patient to be able to verbalize accurate knowledge of the condition
- impaired gas exchange
- ineffective airway clearance
- acute pain
- anxiety
- deficient knowledge
