Electricity and direct current circuits
ELECTRICAL ENERGY
Electric current is the flow of electrons from one atom to another inside a conductive material.
Materials that let electric current flow throught them are conductors.Materials that don't let electric current flow throught them are insulators.
Electricity is a form of energy that lets negatively charged particles(electrons) move from one atom to another
ELECTRIC CIRCUITS.COMPONENTS
Electric circuits is a series of interconnected components that an electric flows thruoght to produce an effect.
Power sources: Components thet supply the necessary electrical energy to the rest of the circuit in order to move the electrons.
Conductors: Components that transport the electrical energy from the power sources to the load devices. The conductive components of a circuit are the wires.
Load devices: Components that recive the electrical energy from the power sources and convert it to other types of usefull energy.
Control device: Devices that regulate the circuit, in other words they allow or prevent the flow of electric current throught the circuit.
REPRESENTATION CIRCUITS: ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS
1.Simple circuit with one-way swicth and lamp
2.Simple circuit with one-way swicth buzzer.
POWER SOURCES:Cell:supplies electric energy to the rest of the circuit. Battery: a grouped set of cells.
LOAD DEVICES:Lamp:converts electrical energy to ligth energy.Motor:converts electrical energy to kinetic energy.Buzzer:converts electrical ebergy to sound energy.Resistor:a load device that opposes the flow of the electric current.
CONDUCTORS:Wire:the component that the electric current flows throught.
CONTROL DEVICES:One-way switch: one-way switches open or close the circuit when they are pressed.Push swicth: push switches open and close the circuit but only while the button impused.Two-way swicth:two-way swicthes have two possition
OPEN CIRCUIT:off: the lamp is not lit.The electric current does not flow. CLOSED CIRCUIT:on: the lamp is lit.The electric current flows and reaches the lamp to light it.
The three main variables thet we see in the figure:Current. This is the intensity of the current or the amount of electrons flowing throught a conductor. Voltage:this is the difference charge between two points wich makes the electron move. Resistance: is the opposition to the flow of the electric current. Formula: R=V/I V=R*I I=V/R
LIGTH: We can convert electricity lo light throught load devices such as incadescent lamps. Heat: when electrons move throught conductor or load device, they create fricction with the material as they pass throught, which produce heat.
Motion: we can also convert electricity to montion using a motor.
Sound: we can use electrical energy to transmit sounds throught microphones and we can produce sound effects.
