Rational Numbers
adding:
both numbers > 0
When you add two number that are greater than 0 it will still be a positive and will have more value than the 0.
both number < 0
When they are both are negative numbers and you add both them they will still be less than zero and will continue to loss value.

Number lines
Positive numbers: Positive numbers are numbers above 0 like 1, 2 and 3. They are also on number lines going up and to the right so you know what is a positive number.
Negative numbers:
A negative number is a value that is less than zero. Negative numbers are denoted with a minus sign preceding the corresponding positive number, i.e., -2, -100
Zero:
Zero is a number that has zero value and are nothing like "I have zero dollars" As a digit, 0 is used as a placeholder in place value systems.
operate number line:
construct a line with dots and operate it by making frog jumps to dots. The left side of the number line is negative numbers and the right side is positive numbers.
Opposite number
Opposite number: Opposite numbers are the same value but opposite. (for example) 5 = -5. It is most common as 5 = -5 in rational numbers, which means it is an opposite value.
Definition:
rational number are number that can be expressed as an fractions, integers and quotient.
Subtraction:
Number line:
When you are subtracting on a number line it will move always move to the left unless both the numbers are negative then you take both the minus signs and turn it to an plus sign. (ex) -6 - (-13) = -6 + 13
But if both the number are positive then it will always move to the left and will always be less then the add ons.
When both the numbers are < 0 and when you subtract the numbers you make it like a subtraction problem with positive numbers and the answer for the problem will have more value than the subtracts.
when you are subtraction a positive and negative number the first number on the equation is the starting point. -A - b goes to the left, A - (-b) goes to the right
mutiplication
When you multiply a negative number by a positive number then the product is always negative. When you multiply two negative numbers or two positive numbers then the answer will always be positive
The reason why a negative number multiplied by a positive is negative is because they are opposites so once you see -a(b) the negative will always say make it the opposite. You can also do it with + - which you can take the negative away from the positive sign. (you can also do it with the two negatives that equal a positive)
divison
If the numbers have the same sign (both positive or both negative), then the answer is positive. If the numbers have opposite signs (one is positive and the other is negative), then the answer is negative.
