ELECTRICITY AND DIRECT CURRENT…
ELECTRICITY AND DIRECT
CURRENT CIRCUITS Natalia Laita y Lucía Martín
ELECTRICITY ELECTRICAL ENERGY
Electricity is a form of energy that produces luminous, mechanical, calorific, chemical effects..., and that is due to the separation or movement of the electrons that form the atoms.
Electric current flow of electrons from a atom to another with in conducting materials.
CONDUCTORS AND INSULATORS
Materials that let electricity current flow through them(copper, tin, aluminium, silver and iron)are called conductors.
Materials that do not let electricity current flow through them ( plastic,paper,textiles,wood...)
Wires(those we use in the workshop or those we find in electrical installations in homes
ELECTRIC CIRCUITS COMPONENTS
An electric circuit is a series of interconnected components that an electric current flows through to produce an effect (like light, heat, sound or motion).
Load devices:components that receive the electrical energy from the power sources and convert it to other types of useful energy.Examples of load devices in circuits are: motors, lamps, buzzers and resistors.
Conductors:is a tool that allows electricity to pass
Control devices: devices that regulate the circuit;in other words, they allow or prevent the flow of electric current through the circuit. The main types of control devices are one-way switches, push switches and two-ways switches.
Power sources:components that supply the necessary electrical energy to the rest of the circuit in orden to move the electrons. The generators of direct curent a circuit are cells and batteries.
REPRESENTING CIRCUITS: ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS
We represent electrical circuits with a very simple drawing called an electrical schematic.Every component in a circuit has a standardised symbol to represent it in a simple way that anybody can understand.
CONVERTING ELECTRICAL ENERGY
SOUND:we can use electrical energy to transmit sound trough microphones.
RESISTOR:heat energy
MOTION:we can also convert electricity to motion using a motor.
LAMP:light energy
HEAT:when electrons move through a conductor or load the device, they create friction with the material as they pass trough, which producer heat.
MOTOR:kinetic energy
LIGHT:we can convert electricity to light through load devices such as incandescent lamps, fluorescent tubes and electronic or low- energy lamps.
BUZZER:sound energy
ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF ENERGY PRODUCTION AND TRANSMISSION
Electrical energy is generated industrially in power stations, which convert a form of energy to electrical energy
RESPONSIBLE USE OF
ELECTRICAL ENERGY
When we save energy, we save money too but more importantly, we save natural resources and help to protect the enviroment.
