ELECTRICITY AND DIRECT CURRENT CIRCUITS BY:MARCOS AND MARTÍN
ELECTRICITY: is a form of energy that lets negatively charged particles (electrons) move from one atom to another.

Between these particles, there are forces of atraction or repulsion that generate ELECTRICITY.

ELECTRONS
ELECTRIC CURRENT: Is the flow of electron from one atom to another inside a conductive materials.
CONDUCTORS AND INSULATORS:
INSULATORS
Materials that don´t let electric current flow through them.
CUNDUCTORS
Materials that let electric current flow through them.
ELECTRIC CIRCUITS: Is a series of interconnected components that an electric current flows through to produce an effect.
CONDUCTORS: Components that transport the electrical energy from the power sources to the load devices.
LOAD DEVICES: Components that recieve the electrical energy from the power sources and convert it to other types of useful energy.
POWER SOURCES: Components that supply the necessary electrical energy to the rest of the circuit.
CONTROL DEVICES: Devices that regulate the circuit.
COPONENTS OF A CIRCUIT
LOAD DEVICES
MOTOR: Converts electrical energy to kinetic energy
BUZZER: Converts electrical energy to sound energy.
LAMP: Converts electrical energy to light energy.
RESISTOR: A load device that opposes the flow of the electric current. Converts electrical energy to heat energy.
CONDUCTORS
WIRE: The component that the electric current flows through.
POWER SOURCES
CELL: Supplies electrical energy to the rest of the circuit.
BATTERY: A grouped set of cells.
CONTROL DEVICES
PUSH SWITCH: Open and closes the circuit but only while the button is pushed
TWO-WAY SWITCH: Have two positions. When we press them, they change from one position to the other.
ONE-WAY SWITCH: open or closes the circuit when thy are pressed.
OPEN AND CLOSED CIRCUITS SHORT
CLOSED CIRCUIT: When the energy of the power sources reaches the load device.
OPEN CIRUIT. When the energy of the power sources cannot reach the load device.
SHORT CIRCUITS: occurs when the elctric current is transported by the wires without passing through a low device.
TYPES OF CIRCUIT
PARALEL CIRCUITS: In these circuits, the load device are connected on different branches of the wire
SERIES-PARALLEL COMBINATION CIRCUITS: These circuits contain devices connected in series and in parallel.
SERIES CIRCUITS: In these circuits, all the components are connected one after the other.
CONVERTING ELECTRICAL ENERGY: Electrical energy can be converted to other types of energy.
HEAT: We can convert electricity to heat.
MOTION: We can convert electricity to motion.
LIGHT: We can convert elctricity to light.
SOUND: We can convert electricity to sound.
ENERGY AND THE ENVIROMENT
ENVIROMENT IMPACT OF ENERGY PRODUCTION AND TRANSMITION.
Electrical energy is generated industrially in power statiton. Many power station have an impact on our enviroment becouse they pollute the atmosphere.
RESPONSIBLE USE OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY
We have to save energy with this few tips:
Always switch off electronics equipment
Use certain domestic appliances only when they are full
Replace incandescent bulbs with low energy bulbs
