    - - This is shown on a bell curve called the inverted u theory, with performance on the y axis and arousal on the x
- - - - Make goal specific .e.g. i must run 30 metres in under 4 seconds
    - - You can measure if you have achieved it or not, you can time 4 seconds to see if you’ve achieved
    - - You and your coach have discussed your goals and agree on them
    - - A goal that is too difficult will demotivate you
    - - Planned out over short medium and long term
    - - Should excite and challenge you to prevent you from getting bored and giving up
    - - Should be written down to check that you have achieved your targets
