Graphic displays of basic statistical descriptions
Boxplot
graphic display of five-number summary
also known as Box & Wisker plot
histogram
x-axis are values, y-axis represents frequencies
often tell more than Boxplots
bimodal
unimodal
These two histograms have the same values for min, Q1, median, Q3, max but different data distributions
Quantile plot
each value xi is paired with fi indicating that approximately 100fi% are less than or equal to xi
display of data as if they are all equally spaced
looks at percentiles as well
Quantile-quantile (q-q) plot
graphs the quantiles of one univariant distribution against the corresponding quantiles of another
Scatterplot
each pair of values is a pair of coordinates and plotted as points in the plane
bivariate data to see clusters of points, outliers, etc
Positively correlated data
Negatively correlated data
Correlation coefficient
