Periods
Pre-Socratic – it lasted until the 5th century BC. The most famous schools of that time were the Milesian and Eleian
Classical – lasted one century until the IV century BC. It is considered the heyday of ancient Greek thought. It was then that Socrates, Plato and Aristotle lived.
Hellenistic - ended in 529, when Emperor Justinian closed the last Greek philosophical school – the Platonic Academy.
