Socio Cultural Perspective
According to Vygotsky all learning comes from exchange of knowledge between individuals, and individuals are all products of their socio-cultural group.
Mental functioning is derived from the mastery and internalization of social interactions within one's cultural environment.
Exchange of knowledge is accomplished through the psychological tools of a culture or social group that have developed historically over time.
Homogeneus and Heterogeneus Groups of learning
Homogeneous groups are less diverse, resulting in less diversity of thought, while heterogeneous groups provide more diverse opportunities for learning among group members.
Language and writing
Its purpose is sharing information among the members of that group.
Zone of Proximal Development
This concept refers to the fact that people with greater knowledge present information so that the trainees can connect it with what they already know, enhancing their capabilities with skills they already had. (Level of potential development vs. The present level of development).
Socio Cognitive Perspective
Through observation and interaction with others, knowledge is gained.
The physical settings and the interaction that the individual has are part of the environment.
Mastery Model and Coping Mode
Mastery Model: Individuals who, thanks to their expertise and skills, are able to obtain a strong and deep knowledge on a given subject. (e.g. Profesors).
Coping Model: Sharing similar characteristics with peers, such as age, gender, etc., contributes to the development of skills. (e.g. group work).
SIMILARITIES
Relevance about social interactions to acquire knowledge and skills.
There are different types of environment that produce several types of knowledge.
Both involve expert models as a support agent to acquire knowledge.
