About:
The story is about an orphaned guy with a harelip named Jafaar reminiscing his love and memories with Dayang-dayang the daughter of their Datu. It started as a flashback of an orphan with a harelip. Jafaar was sent by her Aunt to the astana, under the care of Datu because she can no longer provide for the both of them. There he met the Datu’s beautiful daughter and eventually shared their bittersweet moments together

The story tells us the life of a Muslim where this short story is written because of the different symbols used in the story like the
blue blood and the big astana, the bittersweet memories of Jafaar and the appearance of the Christian Government.

The conflict arose when a young blue-blooded Datu ask for the hand of Dayang-dayang in marriage and Jafaar could not fight for his feelings because he was not on the same blood.

Always fight for the person you love. We must respect their culture and traditions, even if we don’t have the same belief like them. We must also respect both the person we love and the person they love. Lastly, we must learn to love ourselves while keeping in mind that love is not selfish.
