Seizures
Pharmacology

Risk for medication interaction, sleepiness, mood changes, and ataxia - All extensions of CNS involvement
Pharmacological interventions are generally not started until 2 or more seizures have occurred - treatment is dependent on seizure type and caregiver preferences
Benzodiazepines - first line treatment, usually lorazepam or diazepam
Second line treatments include IV valproate, fosphenytoin, levetiracetam, phenobarbital, or phenytoin, and continuous infusion midazolam
Anesthetics - Final line of treatment, including medications such as propofol or phenobarbital. Usually used for status epilepticus
