INDEPENDENCE OF PANAMA FROM SPAIN: On November 28, 1821, after several desertions of royal soldiers, an open cabildo was proclaimed where the Free Isthmus was declared independent of the Spanish Crown.
THE DEPARTMENTAL ERA
CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ISTHMUS: The decree of February 9, 1822, by which it was created with the provinces where the former general command of Panama was extended under the Spanish government, with the limits that had the Department of the Isthmus.

THE FAIRS OF PORTOBELO: initially it starts in 1544 but in 1597 it was concentrated in Portobelo which became one of the most important towns in Hispanic America
LETTERS AND CULTURE IN COLONIAL PANAMA: Their religious beliefs, language, moral principles and custom or traditions are included
FIRST CRY OF INDEPENDENCE: Rufina Alfaro launched in 1821 the first cry of independence that culminated in the union of the country with Colombia.
INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENTS: There were 17 Panamanian separatist attempts after the colony was founded, the independence restlessness led us to the separation from Spain.
FOUNDATION OF THE NEW PANAMA CITY: On January 21, 1673, the solemn act of the foundation of the new city of Panama was celebrated.

TOMÁS HERRERA AND THE STATE OF THE ISTHMUS: On November 19, 1840, Tomás Herrera proclaimed the Free State of the Isthmus and conditions the reincorporation of New Granada into the federal system.

THE FEDERAL STATE OF PANAMA: In 1852 Justo Arosemena proposed to the Colombian Congress to turn the Isthmus into a Federal State. the project did not initially succeed.
THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH AND THE PANAMA RAILROAD: It broke out in California, in January 1848, when a carpenter nuggets a precious metal.
THE GERRA OF THE THOUSAND DAYS: The triggering factor of the war was simply the bipartisan confrontation of liberals and conservatives, both between them and within their respective parties, of which it was a question of obtaining control of the country in a more possible way.
THE AMERICANS AND THE CANAL: In exchange for 10 million, the authorities of the new country granted full and perpetual authority to the United States over a 16-kilometer-wide strip along the Canal.
THE FIRE OF COLUMBUS: In 1885 revolutionary troops seized Columbus and in the fight against government forces, when the revolutionaries withdrew, the city caught fire.

THE AMPHICTYONIC CONGRESS OF PANAMA: The amphictionia ensured solutions that had a vigorous support and contributed to the concord between the peoples and to the stability of their institutions.
