To Marcus Valerius Severus, son of Bostar, of the Galerian Tribe, aedile, sufet, duovir, first high priest in his municipality; prefect of auxiliary troops against Aedemon in the military operations that crushed him: in honour of this man the council of the municipality of Volubilis [set up this statue] for his services to the community and for his successful conduct of the mission on which he obtained for his fellow-citizens from the divus Claudius Roman citizenship and the right of contracting legitimate marriages with non-citizen wives; exemption from taxes for 10 years; settlers; the property of citizens killed in the war who had no surviving heirs. Fabia Bira, daughter of Izelta, his wife, in honour of a most considerate husband, accepting the distinction declined to accept the cost of erecting the monument and dedicated it as a gift from her own money.
