What is a stroke?
Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in developed countries and accounts for 10% of all deaths in the UK.

The brain is particularly sensitive to ischmeia because neurones have a high metabolic rate and can only survive minutes without oxygen.

What does it do?
During a stroke, the area of the brain tissues loses its blood supply, and consequently stops functioning.
