HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE IN THE WORLD?
THE WORLD POPULATION
According to calculations of United Nations
In mid-2015 the population of the world was 7.35 billion, that is 7.350 million people.
At the beginning of our era, 2020 ago years
It has been estimated that humanity reached approximately 250 million, that is, a quarter of a billion people.
The first billion reached it in the 1800s
The second 127 years later, and then every billion additional was presented in more time periods and shorter. The third in 1960, the fourth in 1974, the fifth in 1987, the sixth in 1999, and the seventh in 2011.
BIRTH AND MORTALITY
Population transformations
Can be explained in large part by two factors that are considered very important: birth levels and mortality levels.
Birth
The average number of people born in a specific place and time, and who increase mint the existing population
Mortality
The number of people, who die in a specific place and time, and the existing population decreases
DEMOGRAPHIC TRANSITION
Before the 18th century
Population growth in all parts of the world. It was always very slow because of high birth rates were invalidated because of high mortality rates.
From the 18th century
The mortality rate was lowered. More people were born than they died. Because living conditions were improved.
"Demographic Transition" Phenomenon
Began in Europe. Then it spread to the other continents. Thus, between 1800 and today the world population has multiplied by seven sometimes approximately.
CONTINENT'S POPULATION
At the beginning of the Christian era
Asia and Europe, the "old" continents have lost in percentage. And they have gained percentages today: Africa, America, and Oceania.
The most populous country
China, which has more inhabitants (1,400 million) that the entire American continent or that the entire African.
United Nations projections
In the year 2100, the most populous country in the world would be India (1.660 million), followed by China (1,000 million), Nigeria (752 million), the United States (450 million), and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (389 million).
POPULATION DISPROPORTION
Proportion is different according to the continents
North America is the most urbanized continent (81%). Africa and Asia are the least urbanized (41%). The other continents have a greater urban population: Latin America (78%); Europe (74%) and Oceania (73%).
Rich and Poor countries
Their relationship could be established that all developed countries are now populated by 1.3 billion inhabitants.
Planet's resources
The disproportion is inverse. Rich or developed countries (which are few) concentrate the consumption of 73% of energy and accumulate 97% of the world's wealth.
ECUAODRIAN POPULATION
Between 1800 and today
The population of Ecuador passed from half a million inhabitants to 16 million, that is, in 215 years it has multiplied at least 30 times.
In 1950 -1972
Ecuadorians were not more than 3.5 million and that in 1972 they reached 6.4 million.
Now
Ecuadorian population is just 1.16% of the Chinese population and 0.22% of the population world.
