(Organic chemistry) :
What is it?
Any type of organic chemical that are only made up of Carbon (C) & Hydrogen (H)
Group 14 hybrids
Occur naturally in crude oils
What is it used for?
Hydrocarbons usually consits of naturales gases and petroleum.
Fibres used for production of materials.
Raw materials for production of petrochemical materials like plastic.
Industrial chemiclas such as rubbers and explosives can be created for each unique use.
Fuels and lubricants to power up machines.
Why are petrochemicals important?
Petrochemicals are really important because they are part of the everyday materials we use as people. Petrochemicals are creations of useful items that really improve the way people live.
Common hydrocarbons
Examples
Methane(CH4)
Ethane(C2H6)
Propane(C3H8)
Butane(C4H10)
How are carbon compounds named?
Carbon compounds are named based on the way the atoms are formed in them. The names of carbon compounds are also influenced by the types of atoms inside. The three general forms of compounds are straight chains, branches, and rings. At the same time, they can either be saturated or unsaturated.
