Module 2 readings
Low and Burns (2018)
Learned
People can be born with physical characteristics that do not fit male or female norms, known as intersex
-
-
Categorised biologically as male or female leads to the correspondence of being a woman or man, hetrosexuality is natural, this is known as biological essentialism
Identities are not fixed, identities are a product of discorces that occur at times and in cultures, known is anti- essentialism.
Gender diverse- all gender identities including trans, transgender, queer or gender questioning
Agree
I agree with anti- essentialism, it is important to acknowledge and understand that identities are not fixed and are dependent on a range of discourses.
All people are different and experience and feel differently to how some people categorise them as e.g. born male however is not masculine. It is important to have an open mind and have an understanding of sexuality and gender
Disagree
I do not disagree with any of this reading, it was very informative for me, teaching me many new things so that I have a broader knowledge and understanding.

Weatherby- Fell (2015)
Learned
Booster mindset claims- digital is the answer to all the problems such as
- students are always interested in technology
- the digital always makes teaching more efficient
Doomster mindset claims- little to no positive outcomes to the use of technology for example:
- children are addicted to the digital
- the digital wastes more time than it saves.
Booster and Doomster perspectives are just perspectives, technology is an important resource in education however is not the answer to every problem.
-
-
Agree
I agree that there is a middle somewhere between the booster and doomster perspectives, it is important to know that technology is extremely helpful within classrooms as a learning resource however, technology is not the answer to every problem. Not all children are engaged by technology thereby it cannot be used all the time, it is not always the answer however, is a valuable resource for education when used appropriately for students benefits and learning.
-
Disagree
I disagree with both the booster and doomster claims, technology is important however not vital every second of every lesson.
