Throughout the story, there is a rather interesting feedback loop. In terms of aesthetics, the colors "blue" and "gold" are recycled a numerous amount of times. Further, the story at times introduced things that were already mentioned in the narration (parrots, for example). Through this, the story becomes an extended anaphora. The story continually folds back on itself, and consequently, it is trapped in a paralysis of repetition that precludes progression.
