Druids of Yester hill
Led by a warrior king - Kavan, of the Kavani tribe. Beast men in the old forgotten tongue. For hundreds of years, Kavan ruled the tribe ruthlessly and efficiently. They planted the ancient tree that stands atop Yester Hill, but it was not evil then. It appears that has changed of late.
Kavan died after an un-naturally long life and left no aers to rule the Kavani. He lies burried at Yester Hill. He wielded an iron spear, known as the blood spear. THANE OF KAVAN is there!
The Kavani people continued to live in the whispering woods and on Yester Hill, leaderless. When Strahd came, he sought to wipe out the beast men tribes. Heavy bloodshed. Then the mists came and engulfed the land. The thanes were desecrated, the Rosanna lost, and Strahd claimed their powers. HE became the land. Two sects sprung up among the Kavani.
A young druid among the Kavani who had made friends with the vineyard. She feared for the future of the tribe when Strahd arrive. Secreted one of the totems to the winery ancestors to prevent it from falling into Strahd's hands.

Betrayer druids - worshipped Strahd as an avatar of the land. Were cast out of the Whispering Woods and went to the forests near the River Lunar, Lunar Valley, the Vellaki Valley. WEREWOLVES? Betrayers had taken the totems that allowed them to change. Their connection dwindled and destruction of totems followed. THIS EFFECTED ALL THE KAVANI.
Remaining Kavani somehow prospered, but paid terrible price. They could not use the hidden raven totem's power but showed the people of the winery how to. They became the keepers of the feather, who acted as spies vs Strahd. Network of wings.
Raven totem in winery, saved and secured in basement.

Great towering man, green glow embedded in its chest. At its feet, blood soaked, blood-caked chanting humans at foot of effigy. Cloak to its structure... imperious look. Strahd?
Foetal form of small boy, at the base. Mania about the place. Lightning arcs across the setting. Striking the stones on the edge.
Buffetted towards the ominous tree. Heartbeat... Golthias. The tree... open maw, pulsing light like a beating red heart.
Questions for Martikovs
Describe the stones, inspect Doug
Why did Davien fall out with the innkeeper? Stone stolen, son blamed as on watch, father in rage.

Hunched, long hair, silvery in the moonlight, old... She of the swamps. Baba'lesaga. Witch... legend. Ancient... timeless... Drowned village of Berez. Is as ancient as the stones of Yester Hill. Very dangerous. Does not know of any previous affiliation between her, the druids or Strahd. Rosanna?

Curious that we would be in 'this place at this time' - how is it our threads of destiny entwine? Chance or design? Thinks we have a lot of... potential?
Strahd suggests returning the spear. 'Belongs to a noble warrior. Should be returned to him in his eternal rest.'

History
Once, Martikovs aligned with the druids. The druids had the ability to change. They 'threw away' that ability by their choices. The Martikovs tried to maintain the peace with them. In return, they were gifted the totem with the ability to fly. Their children are gifted with it and their power grows until they can do it at will as they grow in experience. Ravens are blessed in Barovia.
There is a war waged against the Devil in Ravenloft. A war the Martikovs have fought for centuries. Not all wings belong to the master of the dark place.
