recruits are mainly top graduates of business or engineering degrees
credentials for the team are very strong
company has offices in every australian state and territory
main office is in sydney
Problem
Although talent level is exceptional, company is severely under performing
potential to be fortune 500 company
CEO describes team as "super team with disappointing
performance
task assigned is to make a cohesive team
that will meet company needs for new IT systems
needs should be met faster and more effectively
Interview Process
one on one meetings with 14 team members
remarks were very consistent
Image of Bob obtained from meetings
Bob was awed by talent
let the team do what they wanted
would start a meeting and fade into background
always agreed with the employees
thought that employees would suceed if they did what they wanted
Cooperation Level
members in meetings would check their devices
body language and attention level shows opinions
lack of trust and respect and no genuine communication
cooperation between departments and sharing of information is minimal
departments are very territorial
Task
many it leaders have similar background and attitudes
task is to create diversity, and jump start ideas.
these are individuals who aren't used to working in a team
task is to find a way to gel the team together
