P2
-
Investigating resistance
- attach a crocodile clip to the wire level with 0cm
- attach a second crocodile clip 10 cm away from the first clip
- Close the switch and then record the current through the wire and the pd across it
- open the switch and then move the clip another 10 cm
- repeat steps 2-4 for different lengths
- measure resistance using V=IR
Series circuits
Different components are connected in a line, end to end

Static electricity
-
-
-
Too much static causes sparks as an electric charge builds on the object and the PD between the object an earth increases
-
Electric field - creating around any electrically charged object, the closer you get, the stronger it is. Charged objects in an electric field feel a force - attraction or repulsion.
-
National grid
-
Throughout the day electricity usage changes. Power stations have to produce enough electricity for everyone when they need it
They can predict when most electricity will be needed - when people get home, when its dark, large football events

LDR
-
IN darkness, resistance is highest
