Principles of training: FITT Principle (frequency, intensity, time, type)

The FITT Principle helps individuals remember how often you do an exercise, how hard you exercise, how long your workout is, and what type of exercise or physical activities you choose.

The FITT Principle can be applied to exercise, sport, or physical activity in general or in very specific components.

The FITT acronym stands for Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type.

Application: What knowledge, skills, and attitudes do I need to build an effective workout for myself and my needs?

Interpret: How will the FITT Principle influence the way I structure my workout?

Perspective: How might my use of the FITT Principle change my mindset in the way I view the importance of being physically active and staying healthy?

Explain: How can the FITT Principle help me individualize a workout using my own fitness goals?

Empathy: How might I feel if I succeed or fail to meet my individual FITT Principle fitness goals?

Self-knowledge: How can I apply my skills, knowledge, and attitudes of the FITT Principle to help myself and others make participating in physical activity a daily occurrence?
