In addition to the increasing consumption of natural resources and the resulting pollution, the destructive capacity of the weapons of mass destruction compelled human beings to recognise that their activities could ultimately endanger the planet earth.
In 1977 with the introduction of the a10-warthog (an attack aircraft with gatling guns as it's main weapon) more uranium was dropped over the area it flew over, the chemicals of uranium when decayed is bad for the environment and when inhaled can cause lung cancer.
Military activity has significant impacts on the environment. Not only can war be destructive to the environment, but military activities produce extensive amounts of greenhouse gases, pollution, and cause resource depletion, among other environmental impacts.
The water supply in the war zones has been contaminated by oil from military vehicles and depleted uranium from ammunition. Along with the degradation of the natural resources in these countries and a radical destruction of forest cover, the animal and bird populations have also been adversely affected
During a long period of time, guns have changed the world considerably: they help to defend oneself; they make it easier and faster to kill and injure people, very often, innocent people; and they obliterate the border between life and death, for those, who cannot control own actions, thoughts, and movements.
