In what ways do the form and content of two works you have studied reflect the time and place in which they were written?
-
Othello
Form
Old english, 'play script' style, storytelling
-
Kendrick
Form: music; rapping.
the content reflects the time because a black person is advocating and speaking for the injustices that has been done to their ancestors/their people. Through this we can tell that his songs are very modern. (bring up quotes about police brutality)
In his songs, people are taking pride and dignity for where they came from and where they want to go (in 'alright') which is not a common mindset from any time before current
More than ever, now we see advocating for African american minority in the united state
Form and content

eg, "knocking on heavens door". In the GNR version, with all of those electrical shreiks and distortions it becomes different from the soft spoken and person words to mother. It's a solioquy, it expresses agony of a loner and rejected son. It implicitly expresses absence of a mother-figure with its grief.
Form is the style and method, includes the elements of design utilized- it is how the work is built or strctured, ,an techniques or style and how you utilize them in creating an artwork.
Content

Content can be determined by form. For example; when Andrew Marvell writes in his poem "he hangs in the shades the orange bright" the fact that he needs to complete the couplet forces him to write "orange bright" rather than "bright orange" because nothing rhymes with "bright orange"
What your work is trying to say, what you are trying to say, the subject matter, how you may interpret your work, any symbolism or message you would attack to your work, or how your work is recieved.
