Major Functions : the major function of the respiratory system is the supply the body with oxygen and to dispose of carbon dioxide. But it's function is also associated with speaking and smelling.
upper respiratory structure and functions organs of belong in the upper respiratory system are the nose, nasal cavity, sinuses and the pharynx
Nasal cavity: provides air to the pharynx, mucous lining filers, moistens incoming air.
paranasal sinuses : reduces weight of the skull; serve as resonant chambers
Nose: provide an opening and exist for air

disorders
pneumonia caused by an infection in the air sacs in the lungs
asthma- common chronic respiratory condition that causes difficulty to breath due to inflammation of the air ways
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease- irritation to the lungs which can lead to asthma emphysema and chronic bronchitis
cystic fibrosis life threatening can affect many organs
bronchitis long term inflammation of the breathing tubes common among sokers
