Motor, Somatosensory, Visual and Auditory Centre
Motor controls voluntary movement in opposite side of body, located in frontal lobe. If damaged brain may lose control over fine movements
-
Somatosensory area separated from motor area by 'valley' called central sulcus. where sensory info is processed eg. touch, heat etc
-
Visual area each eye sends information from the right visual field (rvf) to the left visual cortex (lvc) and from the lvf to the rvc. This means damage to the left hemisphere can produce blindness in part of the rvf of both eyes.
-
Auditory area analyses speech based info. Damage can cause partial hearing loss. Damage to Wernicke's area can affect ability to comprehend language.
