Pharyngeal fricatives ([ħ] - [ʕ], the “throaty” sounds used in Arabic) , voiceless vowels, clicks (tsk, tsk!) and voiced stops ([ã], [ḁ], [x], [s], [d], [ð]) are less common in languagues.

For each less common sound in the inventory, there tends to be a more common sound in the inventory which is just like the less common sound except for one or two phonetic features.
