CAS Final Reflection
Principled
Amnesty International
-
The project inspired me with new concepts. What impresses me most is that the use of surveillance cameras can violate the constitutional right to privacy. I grew up surrounded by surveillance cameras and considered them as a helpful tool to prevent crimination. Additionally, I thought this confirms the saying: "There are always two sides to everything." I feel encouraged to constantly reflect on the possible consequences or ethics of choices behind all actions.
My initial goal is to gain experience in working collaboratively with different individuals and follow closely to global issues. The global area of culture, identity and community is inseparable from our
everyday life and is directly associated with the development of the society we live in. More specifically, Amnesty International focuses on protecting human rights, which involves the ethics of choices and actions.
Communicators
Tutoring
-
My primary motivation for tutoring is to take advantage of this opportunity to improve my communication skills. It's an ideal chance to help younger students and communicate with different people (students, teachers and parents) at the same time.
In the course of tutoring, I communicated with the student's teachers to figure out the teaching contents. Also, I kept in touch with their parents and frequently report to them about the student's learning. Undoubtedly, the most important part is to communicate with the students. Especially when illustrating an unfamiliar problem, I needed to explain the question from different aspects and listen carefully to their confusions.
Balanced
Badminton
-
I didn't enjoy playing sports, but establishing this goal pushes me to keep working out even when I'm stressed by schoolwork. However, I find badminton to be a good way to relieve stress.
Apart from developing the intellectual aspect of our lives, maintaining good physical health is equally significant. Keeping a regular exercise schedule will allow me to balance between physical activity and study. I aim to practice badminton for at least 1.5 hours per week.
Risk-Takers
Violin
-
After a long standing process of practicing the violin, I finally learned how to play Vibrato. I often practice for more than 30 minutes per day, which is beneficial to my improvements. I am convinced that it is possible to overcome most challenges if we put forth the greatest possible effort.
My initial goal is to practice the violin for 30 minutes per day and learn Vibrato. This is a challenging task for me since I had limited violin experience, and learning Vibrato requires time and effort.
