Symbols
The greenery behind
The greenery behind, looks bright, symbolises bright future. However, the train comes in the way acting like a roadblock for the girl. Diverting her to another path, just like train track do. Shows how it is a problem, especially for the minor
Them holding hands
The holding may symbolise a close relation. While we fear the outside world, the inside world eats us. Sells us for personal benefit. She is guiding her to it as if she knows how it works. Dark secrets, something that passed from generation to generation. Trying to make it sound like a good thing.
The dupatta, its direction, its not on the girl
The Dupatta matches the color of the girls clothes, hence it must belong to her. It might symbolise responsibility that the women has been carrying to run the family and will now pass it to the girl. May show the the family is plagued with this problem or have other problems that have led them to this step. The dupatta flies in the opposite direction to the train, potentially personifying the feelings of the family against this step, yet they stand there showing how broke they are.
The blurred train
The train has been blurred, symbolising how fast live moves. Shows how fast this girl has to grow up and do the dirty work to earn her family money. It may be confusing, blinding extra just like the train in the shot. The fact that they have shown a train, its as if this is her destination, station, this is in her destiny.
The men in the train
The men in the train symbolise the customers for the dirty work. The number of men shows how bad the community is as they heard the news and started to gather. Its as if the girl is a destination that this train is taking them to, very sad. The girl is nothing but a place for fun, and somewhere you dip from. Disregard for women, objectification.

The hair ties
The girl has a small clip holding her hair back, symbolising how she has little hope left for her, and her life is about to get messy like the hair once the hair tie lets go, perhaps like the hand. Whereas on the other girl it looks to be holding on fine, symbolising that she has her life in check. But perhaps worse may mean that she is used to the derogatory acts of trafficking which creates a regretful atmosphere

Title
Stolen Lives
The title tells us about the consequences of minor trafficiking as it "Steals" a Childs life by taking the innocence out of it and making them grow a lot faster than they want to. This shows how serious of an issue this is.
Images
It is an image based cover, the whole thing is basically an image
The magazine as a whole obviously highlights the issue of minor trafficking but it does it in a very formal and a way that makes it look normal or something people can't do anything about. It is a requirement, a necessity, and not really a major problem. Something to think about here.
The magazine is also by national geographic which focus more on environmental issues rather than human issues. Takes away from the credibility of the article as many readers may not be interested in this content. Feels to be tokenism perhaps.
