- - - - Support the search and examination activities of the Office through the following
      - i) Maintain and upkeep classification system whether they be national or
      - international such as the International Patent Classification (IPC) system;
      - ii) provide advisory services for the determination of search patterns;
      - iii) Maintain search files and search rooms and reference libraries; and
      - iv) Adapt and package industrial property information.
- - - - Copyright prevents anyone from copying an artistic work. So only you can sell your new novel, it can’t just be copied and sold by someone else. But anyone else is free to write their own book, even if it is similar to your book in many general ways. Trademarks prevent anyone from using your company/product name, or using a name that is very similar, to trick your customers into buying their product, when they are trying to buy your product. Patents prevent anyone from copying a new product or other form of invention, if you invent it. It gives you a limited monopoly on the product you invent.
