What to include in my research paper: - Coggle Diagram
What to include in my research paper:
Structure
Do I want to format it similar to a science report?
Will have plenty of results throughout and will be explaining them over the course of the report
I need to produce my own results and data as well. Reflecting, comparing and evaluating all results
Thesis is the aim
Will need a discussion or further interpretation of results
Definitely needs an introduction and a conclusion
Strategies I need to use to acquire evidence for the report
Utilising my research skills
Books
Statistics
News stories and articles
Online websites
Triangulating evidence
Referencing and citation
Surveys
Like interviews, very conclusive and provide useful data
Why I will use this strategy
Surveys are basically a massive amount of interviews and provide a wide range of data and can form useful statistics
Interviews with professionals
If the chance, recorded conversations
Q and A over email?
Very strong and conclusive if I ask the
right
questions
Why I will use this strategy
Interviews are very conclusive if I ask the right questions and can provide an alternate perspective and experience
Conversations with friends and family
Peer feedback
They may have knowledge on an topic
Why I will use this strategy
Friends and family can provide their opinion and give essential peer feedback throughout this task
Brainstorming and planning
Mindmaps
Diagrams and Flowcharts
Why I will use this strategy
Allows use of self regulation and agency skills and great time management
Interviews with teachers
Shouldn't be hard to acquire and asking a psychology teacher, for example, would yield similar results as asking a psychologist.
Collating evidence into my Google Drive Folder and reflecting and evaluating on that evidence
This strategy is beneficial because I become organised and I can understand my findings
Why I will use this strategy
I can use this strategy to keep track of all my evidence and can view it at any time. I can create meaning and ideas with each piece of stored evidence after reflecting on it.
Referring to the AIF Google Site
Work space
Explore space
Advance space
Reflect space
Help space
Why this is a useful strategy
The AIF Google Site is a hub for everything AIF with many resources. I can refer to this if I need to look at all task sheets and assignments, explore my thinking, advance my learning progress and learning output or reflect prospectively, spectively and retrospective.
Thesis statement/question
"The merits and detriments of screen time and its effect on the body and society"
Possibility to be refined if planned course of events change
Perspectives and opinions I need throughout the report
Friends and family
Perspectives validate evidence and add insight to topics
Opinions from experts
Very useful
What profession are these experts and what are they helping me understand?
These professionals may have their own opinions online already but it may be more useful to ask my own questions to them directly
Teachers
Health
To ask about nutrition, and health effects from screen time such as posture and muscle pain
Psychology
To ask about effects of screen time on the brain. emotions and behaviour
Any teacher in general
To get their opinion on their screen time usage, their opinion on screen time related issues and how much screen time is used in their classes.
I don't know any names just yet but I should be able to ask people in the given profession
People in the medical profession and allied health stream
Such as nutritionists, psychologists and optometrists
There are many people I can ask with a wide range of occupations such as Nutritionists, psychologists and optometrists.
Will definitely try to talk to an optometrist
Since we always look at screens, I want to ask an expert who looks at people's eyes all day and get their opinion
Survey Results
My own opinion
Self reflecting and how I interpret the results
General things I should be doing whilst working on the paper
Refer to the AIF Google Site
Store evidence in my Google Drive Folder
Brainstorming and planning
Mindmaps
Diagrams and Flowcharts
Refer to my planning and time management document
Reflect and evaluate all opinions, data and evidence once acquiring it
I.e What does this graph mean? How does it affect my results? How does it affect me and the community?
Learning Output
A research paper investigating "The merits and detriments of screen time and its effect on the body and society"
Learning Value to me and the community
To understand the merits and detriments of screen time
What I am talking about throughout the paper -
It's a plan at this stage
The origins and evolution of screens
How society has been shaped by screens
Main Idea: The merits and detriments of screen time and how it affects the body
How to make better decisions regarding screen time
