POSTMOD. SOC. = not a single, dom., stable family struct. - fragmented into many diff. types, more choice of lifestyles, personal rel. & fam. arrangements.
Greater div. & choice brings adv./disadv.:
● Gives ind. greater freedom to plot own life course, choose family type & personal relat. to meet their needs.
● BUT freedom of choice in rel. = risk of instability, more likely to break up.
