Biogenesis Concept Map
Mitosis
-
4 stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase
In metaphase, chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell and the spindle fibers formed connect to the chromosomes
In telophase, chromosomes uncoil, nuclear envelops begin forming as a result of which, 2 new nuclei are formed and spindle fibers disappear
In prophase, chromosomes coil up, nuclear envelopes disappear and spindle fibers begin forming
In anaphase, chromosomes copies divide and spindle fibers pull chromosomes to opposite poles

Meiosis
-
8 stages: prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I, telophase I and cytokinesis, prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II, telophase II and cytokinesis
-
-
-
in telophase II and cytokinesis a nuclear envelope forms around each set of chromosomes. The cytoplasm divides
-
-
-
in prophase I the chromosomes condense, and the nuclear envelope breaks down. crossing- over occurs.

Menstrual Cycle
stages: menstruation, follicular phase, ovulation, luteal phase, menopause
The menstrual cycle is a series of changes in hormone production and the structures of the uterus and ovaries that make pregnancy possible.
