In 2014, there were 607 million people
In 2019, there were 650 million people.
In 2020, there were between 720-811 million people.
Child Malnutrition
5.7% of children under 5 years old suffer from being underweight.
22% of children under 5 years old have stunted growth.
Stunting is the result of prolonged inadequate Stunting is the result of not growing to full potential. Many children who suffer from stunting do not have enough nutrition within their first 2 years of life.
6.7% of children under 5 years old suffer from food wasting.
Wasting, is the result of low weight for height.

Covid 19 has had a major negative impact on food security and hunger.
This negative impact was caused by disruptions in food supply chains, widening social inequities, income loss, an altered food environment, and price hikes.
Household wealth, disruptions in availability, and disruptions in affordability of nutritious food have caused more children to suffer.

In 2020, 1 in 3 people, in the world, were affected by food insecurity.
This is a 320 million people increase from 2019.
The highest levels of food insecurity, 66.2%, was found in sub-Saharan Africa.
In Latin America and Caribbean, numbers rose from 24.9% in 2014 to 40.9% in 2020.
In 2019, food insecurity among women than men rose from 6% in 2019 to 10% in 2020.
2.37 billion people are without food or unable to eat a healthy, balanced meal on a regular basis.
An additional 70-161 million people are likely to experience hunger as a result of the pandemic.

Donate to a charity. All donations make a difference.
Don't waste food. Keep leftovers and freeze food before it goes bad.
Consume less meat products on one day of the week. The Meat Industry plays a major impact on the environment.
Buy local and in season food.
Buy bunny fruit. Although the color or shape may not be 'right', these fruits are perfectly fine and avoids wasting food.
