- - - - Three years later, the 30 articles that make up the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were presented to the world, acting for the first time as a recognized and internationally accepted charter whose first article states that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."
        
        Up until the 1990s, states were considered to be the main parties responsible for Human Rights violations. Nowadays, in a globalized world with global integration of employment, goods, and service markets, new kinds of violations have emerged, such as what the ILO (International Labour Organization) terms modern slavery, defined as “any work or service which is exacted from any person under the threat of a penalty and for which the person has not offered himself or herself”, which Pope Francis has already referred to as an evil to be eradicated.
        
        As a result of the influence caused by its actions, respect for Human Rights has also become a top priority in the corporate sector. In this context, the Ruggie Principles were established in 2008 with the goal of putting an end to abuses such as the denial of trade union freedom and forced labor in the workplace.
- - - - 5: Human rights allow individuals to practice their faith freely (or not practice any)
        From the Crusades to the Holocaust to modern-day terrorism in the name of religion, religious violence and tyranny have occurred repeatedly throughout history. Human rights respects a person's religious and spiritual views and allows them to exercise them in peace. It is also a human right to refuse to follow a religion.
      - 6: Human rights provide people the freedom to love whoever they choose.
        The significance of loving freedom cannot be overstated. It is a basic human right to be allowed to determine how one's sexual life will unfold. When you look at nations where LGBT people are mistreated and abused, or where women are pushed into marriages they don't want, the implications of not preserving this right are evident.
      - 4: Human rights promote freedom of expression and speech.
        While this is comparable to what you just read, the ability to talk freely without fear of violent retaliation is more expansive. It covers ideas and modes of expression that not everyone will agree with or appreciate, but no one should ever feel threatened by their government because of their beliefs. It protects those who desire to discuss or dispute with particular views represented in their society in both directions.
      - 7: Human rights promote equitable employment chances.
        People can thrive in their society if they have the right to work and earn a living. People are subjected to mistreatment or insufficient opportunity because they refuse to acknowledge that the workplace might be discriminatory or simply repressive. Human rights establishes a framework for how employees should be treated and promotes equality.
      - 3: Human rights empower individuals to confront systemic corruption.
        When individuals are subjected to abuse or corruption, the notion of human rights permits them to speak up. Because no society is flawless, particular rights such as the freedom to assemble are so important. People are empowered by the notion of human rights, which teaches them that they are entitled to dignity from society, whether it be the government or their workplace. They have the option to stand if they do not receive it.
      - 8: Human rights ensure that everyone have access to education.
        Education is vital for a variety of reasons, and it is especially necessary in communities where poverty is prevalent. To break the cycle of poverty, organizations and governments concerned with human rights give access to schools, supplies, and other resources. When education is viewed as a right, it implies that everyone, not just the wealthy, has access.
      - 2: Human rights safeguard vulnerable people against exploitation.
        The Death and the tragedies of WWII prompted the creation of the Declaration of Human Rights. During that period in history, the most vulnerable members of society, including those with disabilities and LGBT people, were targeted alongside the Jewish community. Instead of neglecting people of society who are most vulnerable to exploitation by powerholders, human rights organizations focus on them.
      - 9: Environmental protection is guaranteed by human rights.
        Because of the consequences of climate change on individuals, the marriage between human rights and environmentalism is getting stronger. Because humans exist in the world and require land, it is only natural that what happens to the environment has an influence on people. The right to clean air, clean soil, and pure water is just as fundamental as the other rights listed above.
      - 1: Human rights guarantee that people's fundamental necessities are satisfied.
        Everyone needs medication, food, and water, as well as clothing and shelter. Everyone has a baseline degree of dignity when these are included in a person's basic human rights. Unfortunately, millions of people still lack basic essentials, but by framing it as an issue of human rights, activists and others may strive to ensure that they are provided for everyone.
      - 10: Human rights serve as a universal standard against which governments are judged.
        When the UDHR was published, it had two purposes: it provided a roadmap for the future and it forced the world to admit that human rights had been abused on a huge scale during WWII. Governments can be held accountable for their acts if there is a criterion for what constitutes a human right.
