        Having a congenital heart defect e.g bicuspid aortic valve (when you have 2 cusps on the end of the valve instead of 3). This can lead to faulty valves
        Calcium build up in the valves due to Ca2+ in bloodflow
        Rheumatic fever: results in scar tissue forming on the aortic valve. Scar tissue can narrow the aortic valve opening or create a rough surface on which calcium deposits can collect.

        This is cheap and emits no radiation. However ultrasound is heavily dependent on the technical skills of the technician. It is used for foetal ultrasound and diagnosing appendicitis in children.
      - X-ray
        
        Fast and cheap, with a low dose of ionizing radiation. This only provides a blurry 2 dimensional image with little to no details. This is usually used to detect broken or fractured bones.
      - Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)
        
        Can be more detailed than CT and does not emit ionizing radiation. It is more expensive of a method compared to CT and the patient must stay still for half an hour or more.
      - CT Scans
        
        Fast, detailed method of imaging in three dimensions. It, however, exposes the user to a large amount of radiation. Generally used for detecting solid tumours and other problems in the abdomen and chest.
