Plot
Introduction
The story started on Miguel letting his last passenger get off his tricycle. He then went back on the road he came from meanwhile, an empty tricycle drives behind him. He went the same way and pick up any passengers on the way back to town.
Conflict
It turns out Sherwin, Inting Sera's son was following him, Miguel thought he was racing him for passengers' fare but Sherwin wants a racing contest, machine vs. machine.
Climax
Miguel decided to give up picking passengers and started driving faster than he was earlier, when his marking speed closes to 60km on 5th gear he still not able to catch up on Sherwin but the distance is getting closer. Fear and shame consumed Miguel
Resolution
Miguel succumbed to his pride driving up to 70kph which brought him neck to neck to Sherwin, on the road of Na-alad he overtaken a slow moving jeep causing to his side car getting hit which lead his tricycle flung to the side of the road
Ending
Bleeding from the scratches and lacerations the people said to Miguel "pride got the better of you, fortunately you landed in this soft plawed soil". He told himself "never again" and looked at sherwin.
Moral lesson
One Day on the Road teaches us that our pride will not give us the things we want especially when it's something we desperately need. We should focus on working hard to get the things we want. Another one is, to be careful at all times. Life is too short to not be careful, we should cherish every single day and make the most out of it.
