Alteration Pathophysiology: Chronic Kidney Disease - Coggle Diagram
Alteration Pathophysiology: Chronic Kidney Disease
Etiologies
Hypertension
Hypertensive nephrosclerosis
:
Increased Blood Urea Nitrogen, Increased Creatine
Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetic nephropathy
Atherosclerosis
Renal Artery Stenosis
**Stages
Stage 1: Kidney damage w./ normal glomerular filtration rate (GFR) [ > 90 mL/min]
Stage 2: Mild GFR reduction (60 - 89 mL/min)
Stage 3a: Moderate GFR reduction (45 - 59 mL/min)
Stage 4: Severe reduced GFR (15 - 29 mL/min)
Stage 3b: Moderate GFR reduction (30 - 44 mL/min)
Stage 5: Kidney failure GFR (< 15mL/min)
Altered kidney physiolog
y
Altered Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone-System (RAAS)
Hypertension, cardiac remodeling
Altered arterial blood gas
Metabolic Acidosis
Altered electrolyte balance
Hyperphosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hyperkalemia, hyponatremia
Altered hormone production
impaired erythropoietin production
Altered waste elimination
Impaired creatinine elimination, impaired urea elimination, leading to increased BUN
Altered active Vitamin D production
Hypovitaminosis Vitamin D
Treatment Modalities
Loop Diuretics, Thiazide Diuretics, Nitroglycerin, Dialysis, Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACE-I), Aldosterone Receptor Blockers (ARBs), Dialysis
Manifestation/Clinical Presentation
Peripheral edema
Pulmonary edema
Muscle weakness
Nausea and vomitting
Fatigue
Anemia (Pallor)
