Having to be more "feminine" causes us to question ourselves and become hyper aware of our behaviors in order to be perceived as a "decent" women
"The practices of femininity may leads to utter demoralization, debilitation, and death"
Historically have been pushed in the shadows within media/ newspaper/magazines to continue to reinforce this "role" of women
In order to take down these imaginary roles we have to demolish the meanings and the foundations they have created/ They have zero meaning- as in these standards quite literally do not exist; were only put in place by men; simply practices they should be ignored collectively (social roles, Feminine, Masculinity, gender)
The idealization of women rooted in the 19th century and has carried on into now today, still relevant b/c of male positions of power who reinforced these ideals "Acton, Krafft-Ebing, to Freud who described 'normal' mature femininity in such terms"
Agoraphobia- the fear of leaving ones home, crowded areas etc.. formed because of extreme measures placed on women in order to be the right housewife/ Femininity
"Content in a world of bedroom and kitchen, sex, babies, and home"
Women given the role as the nurturer always caring those around them as in cooking and housework but in a sense becomes acts of selflessness, the woman forgets about herself in the process of attending to those to be "nurtured"
Once a women does not conform to these practices for a split second, she becomes a target of criticism as in being called selfish, lazy, worthless
