Colombia was the only Latin American country to actively participate in the UN Forces during the Korean War, with ground soldiers and its only frigate, the Almirante. Colombian soldiers initially landed in Korea on May 8, 1951, and the last left on October 11, 1954. There were a total of 4,314 soldiers deployed.
"Around 5,100 Colombian soldiers fought in the war under the UN flag against the North Korean forces backed by the Soviet Union and China. The war left 213 Colombians dead and 448 wounded."
