Start
You awaken laying on the ground wearing a suit of armor. You don't know where you are or how you got here. Observing your surroundings, you see that you're in a courtyard, surrounded by tall, gothic looking structures.
Unaware of how you got here, you call out for help.
You call out for help and hear your voice echo around. Unfortunately for you, it did attract attention, but not the kind you were hoping for. An undead human form begins running towards you, making loud, guttural screams.
Play dead and hope for the best.
Prepare to defend yourself.
You lay yourself on the ground and try to remain motionless. The zombie knows better though, and pounces on you before tearing into your neck, killing you.
You get into a defensive stance and intercept the zombie's attack, taking it to the ground along with yourself. With supernatural strength it overpowers you though. It gets on top of you and prepares to bite into your neck before you see a sword run through its chest from behind. It screams before falling to the ground.
You see a knight standing where the zombie once was. "I won't always be around to save you. I have my own quest I need to attend to. You have your own sword. Use it," he says. "You best get your wits about you if you plan on staying in this realm."
Just as quickly as he appeared, he was gone, moving into one of the nearest buildings.
GAME OVER
Try to follow him.
You follow the knight into the building he went into but when you enter it you don't see him anywhere.
Go upstairs.
Go downstairs.
You take the staircase going down. It is a dark, spiraling staircase so you can never see what's around the corner. The loud clanking sounds of your armor echoing throughout the hall makes you think you might draw unwanted attention. You begin to think you should turn around.
Continue going down.
Turn around.
You're back on the main level.
You reach the bottom to find yourself in a large, circular chamber. It is too dark to see anything with detail, but you can hear loud stomping noises and can occasionally see armor glinting on what looks like a massive, horrific monster.
Go upstairs.
Once upstairs you see the knight attending to a chest he found below a window. He pulls out a highly decorated short sword and proceeds to wrap in cloth before placing it in his bag. "You again," he says with a hint of judgment. "Like I said, I have little time to help you, but I do fancy we were brought here for similar reasons. Our true goal lies beyond this city, and far into the countryside beyond it. Each of us are brought here to defeat one of nine demon lords that control large swaths of land, bringing terror to each of their regions. I am not so willing to help you because if you cannot find your own way now, then you will never be able to face the terrors that await you ahead. Many have failed, and I predict you will be no different. Besides, I have work I must attend to in this city, so I cannot join with you as you make your departure. What I will tell you though is that there is a beast under these floors we stand on guarding an exit out of the city. I am willing to take a slight detour to assist you in his defeat should you request it."
Try to fight the demon.
Run back up the stairs.

You try to run back up the stairs but trip on the second step. You fall down with your armour making loud clanging noises as you reach the floor again. You can just make out the beast turning towards you before charging at you. You try to get up, but can't before it jumps at you and crushes you.
GAME OVER
You check yourself for potential weapons and find that you have a sword and a shield..
Take up a defensive stance and wait for it to come to you.
Charge at the beast.
You run at the monster. Closer to it you can make out that it is probably 20 feet tall. You clearly caught it off guard as it is unprepared for your attack . As you reach the centre of the room you can see a doorway on the other side.
The beast eventually turns towards you. You can make out its hideous face as it proceeds to roar at you before charging at you.
Step to the side to avoid its attack.
Block it with your shield.
You make a small jump out of the way so that the monster hits the wall with immense speed, which stuns it slightly. During this, you see a doorway on the other side of the room. After it hits the wall you see a gap in the beast's armour on its neck.
Make a dash for the door.
Strike the monster with your sword.
You start to run for the door, but the beast regains its senses. Being able to run much faster than yourself, it catches up with you and knocks you down with an unexpected attack. The last thing you see is its teeth as they move down towards your face.
GAME OVER.
You plunge your blade into the demon. It screams loudly and knocks you away with a massive blow; however once you regain your senses you can tell that it is in no state to continue fighting. You decide it is best you use this opportunity to run for the door you saw.
You pass through the doorway and after walking through what seems like an endless underground corridor, dimly lit by torches adorning the walls, you find a doorway. You open it and find yourself outside again, but looking upon a vast wilderness, stretching out for many miles. You get the sense that your quest is only just beginning.
GAME COMPLETED.
The beast hits you with force far beyond what you had anticipated. It knocks you sideways, and you fall to the ground after flying multiple feet.
Make a run for the demon and attack it.
Stay put and try to defend yourself again.
You charge at it and attack the beast with a glancing blow of your sword. The sword makes contact with one of its legs, and so it falls to the ground. You see a door on the other side of the room and make a run for it.

You take up a defensive stance and the monster charges once again, but already spent from its last attack, you are yet again unable to adequately defend yourself, and to compound this the demon hit you even harder this time. After hitting the ground again you vision slowly closes in and you drift into unconsciousness, awaiting an unknown fate.
GAME OVER.
Run for the doorway.
Attack the beast again.
You make a dash for the door, but the demon is close behind you, and being able to run much faster than you, it catches up to you and knocks you down with force of which you've never felt. As you lie on the ground trying to catch your breath, it stomps on you.
GAME OVER.
After your first pass on it, you turn towards the monster again, but it is already making a charge towards you. It knocks you down flat on your back, but as it is on top of you, you thrust your sword into its chest. It quickly moves backwards and off of you before falling to the ground, dead. You walk towards the door.

Go upstairs
Decline: You can do it on your own.
Accept: You will take his help and then part ways.
"So you choose to go alone," the knight says. "Know that you must not kill the beast to escape the room, but certainly no judgment will be passed upon you if you send it back to the abyss where it belongs. There is a staircase leading down to the room it guards. Go now. This will be your first real brush with danger."
You travel back down to the first floor and spot the staircase you neglected to travel down before, now thankful that you have been warned about what awaits you before you make your way down. You descend the spiralling staircase down, and come upon the last step. Beyond the stairs is a circular chamber, and shrouded in a cloak of darkness is a giant monster, about twenty feet tall. You can see it is wearing plated armour, but it has large gaps that you predict you can attack.

"Fine, I will help you just this once." You descend the spiralling staircase leading down to the beast with the knight. "We will attack it together," the knight says. "When it only has one target it can build up speed and charge at them in a near-unavoidable attack, but it is far too cumbersome to deal with two enemies at once." You reach the bottom of the stairs, and the knight quietly says, "I will charge at it, you flank it from the left. As it is distracted, attack it swiftly."
Suggest switching roles.
Accept his plan.
"So be it," the knight remarks. You see the monster standing in the centre of the circular chamber it resides in. It stands at about twenty feet tall, and possess the most horrific proportions and visage you have ever laid eyes on. You regret your decision of switching roles, but feel obligated to honour your own adjustment to the plan. You charge at the beast with as much speed as you can muster, and see the knight running too, flanking the beast from the side. The monster turns to see you, and begins a charge towards you as well.
Continue charging towards the monster.
Change tactics and adopt a defensive stance.
Despite the monster running towards you, you continue your attack, but when the two of you make contact, it knocks you straight back, and you fly across the room. It reaches you on the ground and crushes you under its foot.
GAME OVER.
When the beast comes upon you, you try to jump out of the way, but it hits you where you are holding your shield which allows you to absorb some of the impact so you only get knocked back slightly before hitting it with an attack it's unprepared for. The knight comes from the other side to deliver another blow. The monster falls to the ground. "It is done," the knight remarks. "I wasn't expecting you would come out alive after our change of plan. The door is there. Go now." You go to the door and pass through it.

The knight makes a run for the beast before you do, and you follow soon after. It begins to charge at the knight, but you see him deflect its attack skilfully with his shield. As the monster is distracted with the knight, you attack it on a weak spot in its armour you spot on its neck. The knight strikes another blow and it falls to the ground. "It is done," the knight remarks. "The door is there. Go now." You go to the door and pass through it.
