Necessary Sections: Order of Sections - Abstract, Specific Aims, Background, Research Design, Impact and Signiicance
Abstract: History, Issue being investigated, goals, approach strategy, ramifications. Only a paragraph in length. Should be strong enough to stand on it's own. Extra attention should be paid to the 1st and final sentences.
1st sentence should be direct and concise. Introduce your topic and grab the reader's attention. The final sentence should focus on societal benefits. (Contains significance/impact statement)
Make sure you include a statement of need. The objective is the most essential aspect of the proposal. It should be placed after the statement of need.
The statement of need should stand-out visibly - Italics or Boldface lettering or labels like "objective" or "goal."
It should be broken down into detailed (short-term) aspirations. A maximum of five steps needed to achieve your goals.
Specific Aims: This section should provide a detailed walk through of the 2-5 steps that will be taken to achieve the goal
They do not have to be written in paragraph form. Listing is okay. The need to be italicized or boldface.
Each step should be followed by a concise description of the approach that will be taken to achieve it.

Background: Give as much necessary information to help the reader understand current standing of the topic.
The section should build value for the reader. Convincing the reader your goals once achieved will have a significant impact.
Structure: History/Known, Unknown/Issue, Goal/Hypothesis (optional) (it can provide real world results and hint to your own long-term success supported by preliminary results.
Finally, a summary but this optional.
Impact and Significance: It should be a paragraph long and focused on the societal aim with no mention of the benefit to me.
