Soldier could consciously entering death, or has died.

Looping short story
The loop could be a man telling a story of a soldier who braved death, where the soldier is introduced to the raven as a guide. However, the story ends with the same lines as the raven, indicating that the man is potentially the soldier and the raven. A raven arrives and turns into an old man, the story ends with the old man around the campfire turning into a raven.

Three tasks
1: Question: The person who buys me doesn't need me, the person who makes me doesn't want me, and the person who uses me can't appreciate me.
2: body: A plant withers without water. The soldier must keep it alive. He feeds the plant with his own blood.
- Offer up something greater than you. He gives his sword, as a symbol of redemption.
