Signs of a struggling student
Behavior Issues Students may be in a constant bad mood, aggressive, unapproachable, uncooperative, lack of motivation/depressed.
*If the shift in behavior is drastic and sudden, I would inquire further to see if it is something deeper/outside the classroom. This could range from emotional (mental health), physical (abuse). Would contact parents or get ahold of school counselors/psychologist/CPS to identify further issues/remedies. Therapy might be needed/recommended
Implement behavior chart (Red/Yellow, Green Car). Remove student if aggressive, find preventative measures for student to self-sooth (stress ball). Inquire with student regarding and try to resolve underlying issue. Make content more exciting for student/individualized assignments. Establish rules/expectations. Reward good behavior.

Academics If a child is struggling academically you will see various signs. These include 1) poor performance/results, careless errors, 2) self-sabotage, ranging from procrastination to lackluster work ethic , 3) Distracted from work, focused on other topics or idling.
Provide supplemental study guides. Have students peer/self review work. Support staff/Intervention specialist may be required. Inquire with other teachers to find similar patterns, discuss with parents on situation and look for solutions together. Pair student with stronger student in classroom (buddy system).
