        Walker was elected to replace Forrester as Grand Secretary, a post she held until her death in 1934. Under Walker’s guidance, the Independent Order of Saint Luke’s fortunes were completely reversed.         It was through this consolidation of communication, money, and industry that the African American community could become economically independent, mobilized, and self-sustaining. Within five years, Walker guided each of these enterprises to fruition.
        
        During the Great Depression :dollar: :arrow_down:, while other banks failed, Walker kept the Saint Luke Penny Savings Bank alive by merging it with two other banks to create the Consolidated Bank and Trust Company in 1930. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the bank continued to exist and was the oldest bank in the United States that has been continuously run by African Americans.
  - - - The name IKEA was formed from Kamprad's initials (I.K.) plus the first letters of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, the farm and village where he grew up. After founding the company near the end of World War II in 1943 as a mostly mail-order sales business, the company began by selling a variety of goods, including wallets, watches, jewelry, and stockings before expanding into furniture nearly five years later. When Kamprad outgrew his ability to call on his customers individually, he converted to a sort of makeshift mail-order operation, hiring the local milk van to make his deliveries.

        Apple Computer went public in 1980, making its founders multi-millionaires. :dollar: Jobs became chairman while Markkula took on the role of president. Wozniak left Apple after a plane crash damaged his memory in 1981 (though he has remained, officially, an Apple employee to this day). Jobs, meanwhile, continued to work on product development at Apple until 1985 when he left the company amid a power struggle with its then-president and CEO John Sculley.
        
        In 1989, Jobs started a new computer products company, called NeXT, which he hoped would compete with Apple. This venture was unsuccessful in terms of hardware, but it did introduce object-oriented programming, which helps tremendously in streamlining software development processes. Jobs sold NeXT Software to Apple in 1997.
        
        Jobs also took the helm of Pixar computer animation studios, which he purchased from George Lucas in 1986 for less than $10 million. Within a decade, Pixar had turned into a feature film-making powerhouse. The studio’s first film made under his leadership, “Toy Story,” was the highest grossing domestic film of 1995. Jobs continued to serve as CEO of Pixar Studios until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006. Jobs then went on to serve as a member of Disney’s Board of Directors.
        
        Jobs also returned to Apple after a decade of absence. In 1996, he became an advisor to Apple's then-chairman, Gilbert F. Amelio. Jobs accepted the role of Apple chairman and CEO in 1997 and revitalized the company with improved products and services and the introduction of highly successful product lines, with the iPod, iPhone, and MacBook.

  - - - Early in the summer of 1995, Mohajer accidentally stumbled into a new career. She had planned to spend her break from school kicking back and taking it easy. Preparing for a day of shopping at the fashionable boutiques with her sister, Mohajer couldn't find a nail polish that matched her pale blue sandals so she decided to concoct her own. Mixing a bit of blue dye with white polish in her kitchen, she came up with the baby–blue color she wanted, painted it on, and went shopping. :nail_care:
        
        Mohajer managed to deliver the 200 bottles within two days. When the order sold out, the owner called for more; other boutiques, solicited by Einstein, also came on board. Mohajer enlisted the help of her friends to keep up with production orders. :factory:
        
        Hard Candy polish, and the company was producing 10,000 bottles of polish a month and bringing in gross revenues of $70,000. :dollar:
        By 1999 Hard Candy was being distributed throughout the United States—including to Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus—and had expanded into Japan and France. The company had 40 employees, and annual revenues topped $10 million.
        On May 12, 1999 Mohajer announced that she had accepted a buyout offer from Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH). After the sale, both Mohajer and Einstein retained positions within the company as creative directors.
      - Dozens of passersby noticed the unique shade, and many asked where she got it. Deciding that they could sell Mohajer's concoctions, the two sisters went to lunch, came up with a product name, developed a plan to pitch their product to local boutiques, and sketched out some basic packaging designs. :heart_eyes: :nail_care:
      - Thinking that perhaps she could make a couple hundred dollars, Mohajer returned to her kitchen and created prototypes of four shades: sky (pale blue), sunshine (yellow), mint (green), and violet (lavender). Mohajer and Einstein took the samples to Fred Segal in Santa Monica, but at first the store's owner was not overly excited about Mohajer's offbeat colors. However, a teenager, who had been dining in the adjacent cafe, wandered over to check out the polish and altered the course of Mohajer's future.
