Over the decades he developed ShoeMart into SM Investments, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines, including 49 SM malls in the Philippines and China, 62 department stores, 56 supermarkets and over 200 grocery stores.

In 1975, Tony Tan Caktiong and his family opened a Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon City. The outlet later began offering hot meals and sandwiches upon request from customers. When the food items became more popular than ice cream, the family decided to convert the ice cream parlor into a fast food restaurant which became the first Jollibee outlet in 1978.Management consultant Manuel C. Lumba advised the family on the change in strategy.Jollibee was initially named "Jolibe", but changed its name to "Jollibee"

Socorro C. Ramos is the matriarch of National Bookstore, the Philippines' leading retailer of books, office supplies, and greeting cards. In 1965, she and her husband Jose set up a nine-story building along Avenida Rizal which would be the very first National Bookstore. What has become the Ramos family business has not stopped growing since, having opened Powerbooks, a now popular specialty bookstore, in 1996.
The history of National Book Store can be traced back to the 1930s. However, the company has been formally established in 1942. Before the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II, José Ramos and Socorro Cáncio-Ramos, rented a small-corner space of a Haberdashery situated at the foot of Escolta Bridge in Santa Cruz, Manila. With a starting capital of ₱211 (equivalent to ₱55,000 in 2019), the Ramoses set up their first retail bookstore selling GI novels, text books and supplies. During World War II, the store shifted to selling sold candies, soap, and slippers due to stringent book censorship. The store experienced success but was burned down during the 1945 Battle of Manila, rebuilt again and reverted to selling textbooks and stationery, the opening of the rebuilt National Book Store at the corner of Soler Street and Avenida Rizal, coincided with the first academic schoolyear after the war

The precursor to Universal Robina Corporation (URC) was founded on September 28, 1954 by John Gokongwei, Jr. Gokongwei decided to construct a corn milling plant to produce glucose and cornstarch, Universal Corn Products (UCP).
Later, to diversify by producing and marketing his own branded consumer foods, in 1961 Consolidated Food Corporation was established. Following WWII, Mariano Que discovered a commercial opportunity. Que, who had worked at a local drugstore before the war, opened his own drugstore when he noticed the demand for sulfa, a type of antibiotic used to treat bacterial illnesses.
He began selling good-quality sulfa for a low price. As a result, he was able to expand his clientele. In 1945, he founded the Mercury Drug chain of pharmacies.

Zest-O Corporation is a beverage company in the Philippines. It was founded in 1981 as SEMEXCO Marketing Corporation by businessman Alfredo M. Yao. While touring Europe in 1979, Yao learned about the Doypack packaging format in one of the European trade exhibits he visited. He bought one machine and tried to market the Doypack packaging format to juice drink manufacturers in the Philippines. When no company took interest, he decided to market his own brand of fruit juice drink. He put up a company called SEMEXCO Marketing Corporation and launched Zest-O orange juice drink in 1980
Gregorio G Sanchez Jr
Gregorio G. Sanchez, Jr. is a civil engineer by profession formerly engaged in civil construction works. He served as a Provincial Board Member in Cebu City, where one of his concerns was the malnutrition among the pigs being raised. On his own, he went into research and performed experiments using only pots and pans and a small tank as his equipment. His persistence finally led to the development of a food supplement that would smother the bad bacteria in livestock, which he called “LactoPAFI Probiotic Bacteria.
Despite several setbacks, his perseverance paid off: he found out that the pigs were infected with dangerous bacteria. His solution was probiotic bacteria that would boost the body’s healthy bacteria count.

On May 15, 1966, Filipino-Chinese sisters, Milagros Leelin Yee and Clarita Leelin Go, and their sister-in-law Doris Wilson Leelin, opened the first Goldilocks store on a 70 m2 (750 sq ft) space on the ground floor of a three-story building along Pasong Tamo Street in Makati and started with only 10 employees.
In 1976, Goldilocks opened its first store in the United States in Los Angeles. In 1991, Goldilocks launched a franchising program which led to the opening of hundreds of Goldilocks' store in Metro Manila.
