Preparation of Salts - Coggle Diagram
Preparation of Salts
From Acid and Metal oxide
pour acid in beaker
warm the beaker
add metal oxide
stir the mixture
filter solution
evaporate remaining water from the filterate, but do not evaporate all
leave to cool and filter to get crystals
From Acid and Metal carbonate
pour acid into beaker
warm the beaker gently with bunsen burner
add metal carbonate into acid
wait until reaction of bubbles stop
filter the solution after the reaction stopped
evaporate remaining water from the filterate, but do not evaporate all
leave to cool and filter to get crystals
From Acid and Alkali
Using titration method
Fill burette with alkali
use pipette to put acid in flask
add thymolphthalein (indicator) in both alkali and acid
add alkali into acid until the solution is blue (indicates neutralisation)
repeat the process with the same measurements, but without the indicator
evaporate remaining water from the new solution, but do not evaporate all
leave to cool and filter to get crystals
Precipitation
mix 2 equal quantities of different solutions containing soluble salts
filter the mixed solution
wash the residue with water and, leave to dry to obtain insoluble salt
wash the filterate with water and leave it to dry will give soluble salt
